Nice 3-star hotel and spa. The room was adequate and clean. The courtyards were very charming and the groundskeeper was an amazing. I was curious about the spring water system and he was more than happy to explain and show me the system. The pool temperatures were a bit wonky (the indoor pool was not very hot). My wife’s massage was not very strong, more like gentle rubbing. And a mandatory 20% tip on massages, the receptionist told us it’s policy and didn’t offer any concessions.
I went to the spa to have the mud bath and to have the massage unfortunately the gentleman that did my massage was not experienced at all 😕 other than that it was a wonderful experience the lady that took care of us in the mud bath she was wonderful!
If I knew, how do you give half stars I would put 3.5 stars. I cannot speak on the hotel as my fiancé and I did not stay but made a day trip out for their Friday couple special of the mud baths and massage. This place was recommended by our family friend, though they had not been here in some time. This was also to be our very first mud bath experience, but not our first spa experience. But we would not return.
Upon arrival, the outside of the spa building looks dated ,the staff, and everybody was really nice. Everything was explained very well especially about the mud baths, hot and cold spots being normal. Upon entering the mud bath area my fiancé and I both felt unsure of this experience, we were about to have. The couples mud bathroom looked very dated and dingy. The yellow wall tiles also appeared to have some staining, though this may be from the mud itself, as we were advised to do the bath in the nude as it would stain and ruin any bathing suits. The fans in the room, made it very difficult to feel relaxed and took away from the relaxing experience I wanted in the mud bath itself. While I understand they use the local spring water, And that type of water can be very hard ,the showers did not feel very tidy either. With hard water stains on the shower heads and no light which made if difficult to see the mid on our bodies as we rinsed offf. After our little shower, we were instructed to get in the Jacuzzi bathtubs. It was very difficult to relax because again the jet bathtubs looked old, dingy, and had cracks and deep yellowing on them. I personally had a very hard time relaxing , because the bathtub that I was in was especially stained, old, cracking , and appeared gross. We were also provided a mud mask during our jet bathtubs, which felt nice but a small gripe i had is the lack of mirrors to take off the face mask without one is difficult. For spending such a large amount of money (~$500 with tip), I expected the place to not have appeared this way. And this really took away from the relaxing experience. My muscles definitely felt relaxed after the hot baths, but again due to the out dated, and dingy appearance it really took away from the relaxation. What saved our trip was our amazing masseuses. Both my fiancé and I had an amazing 45 minute massage. We knew the place was clean because as well left we saw the attendant cleaning the mud bath room so this helped know. But needless to say, if we choose to do another mud bath, we would not return here.
